No, the plant will grow higher (if not tied down) -- the new tops and branches will grow higher than the node that got snipped. But instead of one stalk growing a foot above that node you'll have two or more that grow only a few inches above that node.

Don't wait until the plant has reached some maximum height before topping/fimming, start earlier and use these techniques to control the height as you go (grow).

So, I'm sure this was asked before, but I can't seem to find it...

How soon after topping can you top again? How long does it take for the plant to grow enough, and at what point is it safe to make the next cut?

I'm guessing that you wait for the next node to grow, before making another cut again.
Also, if I have say, 2 existing branches, and I want to top both of those, is it safe to do them at the same time? Or will that stress out the plant in some way? Should I do 1, then wait a few days before doing the other? Or is that just not necessary?

From what I've read, it seems like you can top a plant, then after it grows a little more, top each of those new branches, and so on... Right?

Since I'm a little unsure about this stuff, I'm probably gonna LST most my plants, But I might top them a little too. I'm asking all these questions, for knowledge/experience sake. lol

I topped 2 days ago and the cut has 3 black dots on it, Plants still healthy but i'm wondering if this is normal. Doesn't look like there's any new growth at the top though. So is this normal or what might the problem be?

Thumbs up Excellent info!!!

This helped me soooo much! I topped a few and then fim'd the others.
My babies are happier than ever! Green and thriving. If anyone wants to see pics, I will post. Just don't want to be a bore.

hey

the topping and fimming should be done early in VEG, not flower.. so if you did harvest them they wouldnt do much for ya... Tipping a cola keeps the cola from streetching higher and it fills out fatter. handy when they try to grow past the lights.
hows that sky8...
