Yes. They do work, but you need at least 10w per plant for decent growth I think. I use the 5.3w Solar Oasis plant bar, and it won't really grow a plant on its own.

Oh no don't get me wrong you can do a whole grow with just LED. You just need more than I have. I prefer to use it as a suppliment to CFL's, they've been working well together. If I had the money I'd try to go all CFL, because they are so efficient, emit no heat, and are dim to the human eye. The advantage is the efficiency, because they convert electricity to light with almost none wasted as heat, and then the plants can use 100% of this light. Most lights they can only use i think like 30% or so. I think that's the figure for a HPS.
