hi im new to all this and im just about to start my first grow ,i have very limited space in my bedroom in my parents house lol and will probally only be growing 1 plant at a time ,how bad is the smell going to be off 1 plant ? and does anyone have any tips on disguising the smell without using vents etc as this wont be possible ? thanks if anyone can help

Hey, welcome to GC.

Just out of curiosity how old are you? I hate to be the negative nancy, but I want to get this out of the way so that others who post here can try and help should you decide to proceed.
Growing in your parents house is not a good idea:

• Your putting them at risk
• Your putting your relationship with them at risk
• You have to spend quite a bit of time and money to get the no odor affect and keep it hidden.
• Parents are sneaky, and most can smell like bears. This makes for a bad combination.

In other words, your odds are against you. If you decide to proceed, all I can say is try to respect your parents.

You will need to read up on filters, fans, ventilation, light leaks, and you wont be able to run an HID and keep it hidden unless you have mcguver skills.

Good luck. Read up all you can, and If i were you, I would wait until you have your own place to not get your family introuble.

The smell shouldnt be too bad off one plant, even in flowering. Are the seeds feminised? Cause growing one plant at a time dosnt seem worth it, unless you have a sure female.

If you can spend around 30 bucks here is a link to a DIY carbon filter HERE. You dont even have to attatch it to an exhaust vent. You just need a computer fan sucking air into it,and place it in the grow room.

I have to agree with that. If you are growing in your parents house and are underage, you could fuck your parents over. Not to mention yourself..

I grew in my moms house a few years ago, but she was ok with it. Infact she loved it, she never had to pay for smoke.

im 26 and i have smoked weed in my room for over 10 years , my parents know i smoke weed but i was just worried wether the smell would take over the whole house ,i manage to keep the smell off my joints pretty much in my room so , i think i should be ok ,thanks for the help

Well guess thats a different story, just make sure you look into ventilation and carbon filters like stonIER said. If you have a good budget, youll have a better chance.

Perhaps an Ozone generator.
Fairly cheap and easy to make.

You should only grow in your own place, regardless of age. In the USA at least you jeopardize your parents' home and could tangle them up in legal charges that are very costly to defend.

lol thanks for the response guys ,and yes im still with my parents sad i know but things went wrong when i moved out ,plus free food bed etc at parents lol my folks are pretty cool about me smoking but wouldnt appreciate the whole house smelling like a ganja farm ,that was my only concern ,so hopefully if i just keep 2 good females flowering i might be able to disguise the smell a bit thanks for the help guys great site

Products like neutradol can work for small grows. It combats the smell at a molecular level, like ionizers do, and literally gets rid of the smell rather than just covering it up. Good luck with the grow. In the UK as long as your parents can say they didn't know about the grow they shouldn't get into any trouble if you get caught, although they will be questioned, and the law in the UK does NOT put your parent's house at risk, it's in the US that growers put their homes at risk.

That nutradol looks like amazing stuff (thanks for that!), almost too good to be true. The ingredients, "some of which are natural", sound slightly worrying, and I can't find any information on its effects on plants/delicate life forms (soil bacteria, etc), though I've mailed them about that. (one site states... " Contains Hexyl Cinnamaldehyde and Lilial. May produce an allergic reaction. Wash hands after use. Keep away from children. Use only as directed. ") This anti-wrinkle cream contains these and more, and seems safe enough for all skin types.

The gel version of Nutradol lasts 90 days. One per grow, sorta thing. Whether it would clean the air as well as a carbon filter, I've no idea, and I can't find any information (though I haven't looked real hard). If anyone knows how the stuff might fare in a smelly grow (say a square meter under 400W), I'd be real interested to hear. If it's AOK for a growing environment, I'd say £1.50 for three months of clean air is a great bargain! Even if it only treated the residual smells, it's still a nice deal for an odour destroyer.

Talking of which, I got a PM about Ozone generator building, asking me to post some details, so here is the best link on the subject, from Big Clive, the crazy tech dude. I'm working on the glass sheet version (well, collecting parts, at the moment) which looks powerful enough to handle a grow all by itself, not that I'll use it that way.
