Stretching

This plant is my *one* day old plant (excluding germination)..its amazing, its almost like its growing before my eyes - this morning when I first saw it had broken above the soil, it grew a tiny bit just in the time I got breakfast, in a space of 25 mins!

I am worried thought that it is stretching. I am using one 125W blue spectrum lights, and placing it about 3 inches above the plant (not sure about placing it closer...this seems to dry the soil out really quickly). Is it stretching, and what can I do to reduce this if it is?

Thanks for your help,

hmm it shouldn't dry it out that much quicker. That is the whole point of Fluro lights: very little heat. You could try bringing the light another inch closer as it should really only be 1" away but all in all, your plant looks fine...I would wait to see what it has done by tomorrow.
If you are going to lower the light, I would check it frequently like every 30 mins if not every 15.

i stopped using jiffy pots because they seem to dry out super fast. i would at least add more soil and get it to the top of the pot or right under the first set of leaves, whichever is lower. that will hold a tad more moisture but not much.

Okay, I transported it to a new bigger pot and put soil right up to the leaves. Thanks.
