i have a plant, first time grow. i need to determine if i should pull this plant or not. any help would be greatly appreciated thank you!

Neither. Those are stipules.

If you see small white hairs growing from tear drop shaped calyx then it is a female preflower.

If you see balls in clusters it's male.

I see the beginning of a calyx, wait for white hairs to pop out then you'll know she's good to go!

I doubt that's a stipule, looks bulbous

give it a couple days and see what happens

yep, looks like a calyx and not a stipule to me.. the one right above it however, is def a stipule.
