Hi all, currently 8 weeks into my first grow, out of the 7 seeds i was given only one made it. started out with a 14w led bank, dual spectrum, in a 1m x 1m x 2m indoor tent which is mylar lined. grew ok for the first 3 to 4 weeks but not enough with the lighting I had, luckily i live next door to where I work and having put in my own electric cable i can pull off about 4kw with out causing a problem! I have now changed the lighting to a 300w dual spectrum cfl, the diference is truly amazing. sexed it when it was about 5 weeks old by changing light timer from 20 hours light to 12, week later little white pistles appeared which was great and now back onto 20 hours of light. will probably start to make some cuttings next week as she is about 80cm high now. im using soil, miricle grow to be exact, seems to be going well so far with no major problems, just the heat, try to keep it at about 82 degrees but it has been hot recently. giving her some nutrients now and again but using collected rainwater which i boil first. Carbon filter is all set up for when she starts to smell but luckily i live in the middle of no where and smelly farm next door so no real worries there. I have a wood burning stove for the waste so I think I have everything covered but not complacent about it! A little paranoia is a good thing!

Looking good, you should transplant into a 5 gallon container

the job at the weekend! I luckily again through work end up with lots of 25 litre (5 gallon) plastic containers, will cut one in half and transplant at the weekend. would you recomend drilling some holes in the bottom for drainage?

Definitely, drainage is very important for cannabis plants.

let me make sure I'm right... you "sexed" it, meaning you flipped it into flowering, let it flower for a week, then switched it back to veg?
would that have any detrimental effects ie higher likelihood of hermied plants etc?

^ no...that's what lots of people do with normal, non-feminized plants
1. flip it to 12/12 to figure out which are females and males
2. do what you will with the males (some people keep them for breeding)
3. flip a (or multiple) female(s) back to veg and use it as a mother to take clones from, now that you know it's a female

gotcha... how far along a plant's development does it need to be before you should do this? are there any negative effects at all?
I have 9 bagseed about a month in right now, I'd love to get rid of any time-wasters ASAP. They're maybe 3-4" right now with probably 3 or 4 sets of adult leaves growing

I should really have sexed it earlier just in case it was male but forgot! she had 8 days of 12/12 and then i knew she was female so turned the lights back up to 20/4. am not aware of any negative effects. I have friends that put a very thick black bag over one branch for 12 hours a day and then just that branch starts to flower and they sex it. this is my mother plant, i will clone it and have about 5 to six in total and have a seperate tent for growing the cuttings and flowering those so should hopefully get a reasonable crop every 3 months to see me through! I was abit naive about it all to start with, thought it would be quicker but am really enjoying the challenge of growing my own, cuts out going to see people that sell crap! I have no intention of selling it or giving it away, its for my enjoyment and its about the only thing that helps after having part of my spine removed!
