Alright guys. This plant is about 1 1/2 weeks old from germination and after a hard rain-storm (plant is outside) I returned to find this

Can i handle the stem back straight somehow? or should i cover the horizontal part with soil.. i doubt I should do that.. should I snap it back into place? Will that hurt her? I know maryjane is a durable plant.

Do not snap anything back in place. Just let it go and fix itself with time, there isn't much else you can or should do. Trying to mess with it and propping it up or whatever else you might try would have a high chance of breaking the stem and killing the plant.

Eh. :/ My stem changed colors, position, and lenth vastly in a short amount of time.. 1-2 days. Its going across the cup. Is it smart enough to fix itself on its own?

My only suggestion is that you can bring a CFL close to it on the side it isn't bent towards and it will even itself out after a week or however long that might take.

Plants are highly resilient and you can't rush a quickfix.

I would straighten in back up. But hey that's just me.
Could end up breaking her off if you try that.

Add some dirt and bury it more, gently prop it up with am mound of dirt.
It really is stretching anyways.
You do run the risk of damaging it so be super careful.

Why not transplant and bury more?

It's stretching, a bit weird for outdoors, must be in a dimly lit area and the plant is telling you it needs more, by growing toward the dominant light. Turn the cup in the opposite direction and the same light will "draw" it upright in a week or less. Happens to me all the time indoors and within one to two days of good light it will stand tall.

Now, next time use a RED SOLO CUP and that won't happen. Let's have a party.......
you're not just a cup... you're my... FRIEND!

Hello. Thanks for the replies. I have now transferred my plant from its cup into its big flower pot. While transplanting I managed to get the little trooper a little more straight.

Does this look like it will begin to grow normal? Any other suggestions? Thanks!

Seedlings can do this. It happens all the time. It's no big deal. The best way to fix it is to give the plant more light. Leggy=not enough light. But seedlings will sometimes just do this anyway. They grow, but they haven't had enough time to build a stem that strong enough.

I had one seedling, that was growing quite vigorously. It turned out to be a strong male when I sexed it.

Anyway, the little guy grew so tall it fell over. With the leaves now upside down, it grew into a loop get more light.

So I re-potted it, buried most of the stem, and put it outside to get more light than I had indoors. In 3 hours it had straightened itself up.
