First grow questions

Hi people, this will be my first ever grow, and I want to grow maybe one or two plants. I have just ordered the following:

Homebox extra small (60cmx60xm120cm(high))
125W Budget Envirolite System that comes with reflector and 1 lamp for vegative stage, one lamp for flowering stage.
250ml of pH up and pH down
Ionic Soil Grow 1 Litre
Ionic Soil Bloom 1 Litre
Plug timer

I guess I also need to purchase soil, pots and a pH tester. I plan to grow Northern Lights as apparently these are low odour.

For just one or two plants, will a $150/£100 ventilation and odour removable system really be necessary? For ventilation could I get away with just a small desk fan and a peanut butter jar (with holes in) filled with active carbon? Is there any other kit I really need and have overlooked?

Also, does anyone know the UK law concerning growing a small number of plants, no more than 2?

it looks like you did your research. Uh i think you can easily make a home made vent system. I don't know about the laws in the UK. Good luck dude.

Growing any number of plants in the UK is illegal and can carry a prison sentence.

I realise it is illegal, but surely the law makes some distinction between someone growing 1 or 2 plants to someone growing on a commercial scale?
