1 - Which sex shows pre-flowers first (Male or Female)?
2 - If one shows first, about how long before the other shows?
3 - How many days after the pre-flowers show do i have before pollination occurs if i have make and female plants? There seems to be a lot of urgency to pull the make ASAP. Do we have days or weeks? or what.. Or per #1, do male show first then prepare to spread its seed as soon as the female is awake and ready! And for this reason maybe urgent to pull makes quickly.. Not sure can you inform us?

I will post my images of the nodes/ for sexing after i clear these questions up...

PS. tengo envidia de tus plantas!

1. Male usually shows itself first.
2. All depends on the strain and how well the plant is developing.
3. All depends how mature the male plant is and if its pollen sacks are open, seeing that they can open at any time, this is the reason why you want them away from the females as soon as you find them (better safe than sorry).

You can see males right away, very small ball starts to form just at the newly developed branch coming out above the fan leaf, from that point you still have quite some time before they product large enough pollen sacks that will burst open.... you will see the males very easily by that time so no need to worry to much about finding them immediately, they will be very apparent to you and you will still have enough time to move them with no problems what so ever..

Said this many many times, people on here spend way to much time vegging only to find out they ahve a male afterwards.

When i start from seed, i do them OUTSIDE on the porch or whereever you can hide them under trees in your yard. This will give them the day and night hours, after the 3rd leaf set has formed i TOP them immediately, from there 2 weeks they will show sex because they are not constantly under light for more than 12 hours.

From there its simple pull the males, repot the females and bring them inside. I have 5 inch tall seedlings that are already shown and they are only in thier 4th week of life.

that happened to my wife

True about the long flowering cycle turning them hermie. True about the defence mechinism. But I thought to get feminized seeds the hermie needs to fertilize a different, fully female plant. I didn’t think the hermie could fertilize itself to get female seeds.

well especially for new growers, I wouldn't advise anyone to scrap a plant as soon as it grows 'balls on sticks' - as it's very hard to distinguish between a budding female & a knobbly male if u haven't seen the flowering stage before.
I know I've made the mistake in the past, so my advice is clear - give it time to develop before u throw away a healthy plant.
Everyone panics - "oohh i think it's a male :/" but work it out! average ratio is 1-1, not everyone's plant is male!!
Very early growth of female flowers - especially when they suddenly burst out all over the plant looks very much like male pollen sacs at first.
Be patient - & if ur not sure, isolate the plant (but don't deprive it of light) until u are positive.

Well said. S12 had the same problem and binned a couple way to early. poor bugger, still, he got 2 girls in the end so all wasn't entirely lost. I was positive I had a girl but came to a point myself in early flowering when I wasn't completely sure whether I'd made a mistake. By about a week though it became obvious that I was worrying over nothing. A few extra days of indecision wont bring on the end of the world.

Very well said.

Steed, providing that girl you gave away is mature enough, go out and take some clones off of her. They will be all guaranteed females and you can take as many as you want over a large period of time. Good luck.
