Do both! more is better.
If you wanted you could do both in one room BB system does not take to much space. The BB system could also be moved around easily so one could work on the NFT from all sides.
I personally like the NFT system since you can monitor PH, TDS, and Redox for the entire crop from the sump. Also in a NFT system the water level is maintained in the flow trays by a stand tube (from bulkhead) or by a break wall. This makes water level monitoring a simple check to the sump.
BB systems depending on how elaborate you make it may require a quick peak from the lid or lifting the plant to monitor water levels and quality. However one could add a bulkhead to the bottom of the BB bucket then to an elbow then to clear tubing equal to the height of the bucket. As water level raise or lower you will be able to monitor the water level reviewing the clear tube outside the bucket.
