you're looking for about 50w per square foot. With a 2x3 footprint you want about 300w. A 400w light needs to be a couple feet from your plant to keep from burning it and produces a good amount of heat. For a box that size I'd suggest a 250w hps max. If you want more, then add some fluoros or cfls.

And 5 gal buckets are about a foot wide, so at the max, you could conceivable put 6 in there. I think a pair of bubble buckets with LST would do well. Or use rubbermaid containers instead of bucket to maximize vertical space.
