imo peeling the skin is unnecessary and harmful, take cuttings so you have a couple inches below the first node, apply gel, bury in new potting soil up to just below the node, place pot in a tray with enough water in the bottom to just dampen the bottom of the pot, mist the plant, mist the inside of a dome and cover. keep light low (cfl's or tubes are way plenty). trim any larger leaves to 50%. the cuttings will probably wilt initially, but if they dont fully stand back up by the next morning, there is a problem. no way should you have any leaf browning or drooping after first day. also, dont mist after first time, water on leaves is heavy, if humidity is high in the dome, they will be fine. you should see the resuming growth in 10+ days, then out of dome and transplant to veg size pot.
