well a soil ph meter wont read water u need to get a pond meter oh the cfls are cheap they go into ur basic lamp fitting u get around ur house like bayonet cap type mostly or ES edison screw either way they are cheap to run and easy to get so whereever u get them its fine most wallwart do them, around ten quid a pair and fittings are pennys all u need then i a lenght of three core wiring basic stuff and and wire trimmer and a screw driver done. as for your ph if there are no signs of improvment by friday i would suggest flushing them again
