yea it definatly too high ur ph i keep mine between 6.0 and 6.4 and all is fine i try not to go over that which helps, depends wot colour the spectrum is if it blue or red the only way to know is by turning it on on unless you get a 4 2700k cfls for like ten bucks and some fittings that should be fine, im not sure if the ph will lower by simply adding peat it might i have never done it, ive always used a flush thats what worked for me keep your eye on them everyday till the ph is back down to 6.5 6.7 also check the ph of your water it might be an issue
