I agree that it would be a big step in the right direction (Still wouldn't happen any time soon), but not in that it is feasible for the human race to unify (Short term or long term).
Human nature is a collection of best and the worst aspects of life as well as everything in between, I feel that it is naive to think we could successfully abandon one of our halves.
