Question religion above law

I had to appear in court today, I saw a lady covered head to toe, in black garb, letting just enough room to be able to see. Im not sure exactly why, but I felt uncomfotable seeing her stand in the back of the courtroom by herself dressed like that. I felt as though she had something to hide, which from her religion views, may be so. Ive seen many people wrapped in garment before, but this time it stuck me uneasy.
I found out that in florida, a Muslim woman took to court and won, her case which allowed her to have her photo for her drivers license taken, covering her entire face. Religion won against this country's law.
I just wanted to know if anyone else has any opinion on this, if youve heard of the case, or anything of the such.
