Just because God put something here on the earth, doesn't mean he intended for us to use it. And about the "every green plant" thing, it's actually "every herb bearing seed... for meat" (ie for food). Weed is not an herb.
Edit: Sid, I'd like to see your sources for the apple representing sex. Biblically, God didn't want man to be robots and follow Him because there was no other choice, so He gave Adam and Eve a choice. Don't eat of the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. The only thing they were instructed not to do, they did. It was a test of their obedience to God. They were actually meant to multiply (have sex and children).
