Yes, you have the right idea. The different combination of cannabinoids alters what type of high you get. I tend to think of THC as the "high", while other cannabinoids produce the "sedation" feeling.
This is also why pot does not
have to be heated into fats in order to produce effects in edibles, but the effects
are noticeably less profound (THC=Heat activated)
