Really some intresting stuff, however, personally I would expect torture to be effective.
However, I can see where the accuracy of the information isn't as good because any information to get it to stop will do, also torturing someone who ultimately doesn't know anything won't do a hell of alot of good.
I'm not for torturing every day, but if it came down to it, the heat of the moment save the world or die, well of course, desperate times call for desperate measures, but thats about it.
