They did not fake any thing, we sold him many arms during his war with Iran, there is a very high ranking officer in the Pentagon said right after the Iraq war initial invasion in an interview, "We know they(Iraq) had WMD's, we got the receipts to prove it".
Furthermore I have no problem with protecting the areas in the reagon from invasion to protect our oil interest, what I do not agree in is un-needed occupation in countries that we are trying to achieve.
