Hi Earl,

Thanks for the pointers, you have cleared a few small things up for me. I have recently started experimenting with hydro systems, I have grown veggies under hydro before and smoke in soil for a number of years, I have a few small quesions for you...

Sorry if any of this is in your post, I skimmed over it (being so long), and read the areas of relevence to me..

*Can you please explain why you don't top up the res with nutes? I have a 40ltr tank, just one experimental plant in there for this grow. The PPM seems to drop around 50 - 70 parts each day. I can top the water to the original level but this will still have a solution with sub 500 / 600 nutes (early growth).

I have been dumping the tank every 5 days and I am using normal tap water, not sure if that makes much difference to the PPM, if anything I would have thought the only thing lowering it would be the plant.

I am sure I have read a thread on here or IC and the person was talking about maintaining the same water throughout the grow, surely they would maintain the nute within the res.

*I have been using clay balls / hydroton, which I flushed before use, there still seems to be a large amount of clay type poweder coming off, does this stick around for a long time, it seems to be reducing each flush but I understand this will block things up.. any thoughts or experience?

Thanks Earl.
