My advice, seperate for now, but make an effort to reconnect after you're done school. If you guys can get back together, then you know it's real.
Also keep in mind how old you are, and if you are already feeling stagnation, then maybe you really arn't life partners?
You have so much mor elife to live, I would say take what you have gained out of this relationship, wish each other well, and part your own ways.
If you two happen to reconnect in the future, then maybe it was meant to be.
