my rule of thumb is harmless disrespect to public places like this is totally cool as long as there aren't a bunch of young kids watching you ready to copy.
adults can choose to do funny things that might get them in trouble, and they can understand the consequences. which in your case was merely a good laugh.
however if you did something that actually caused damage or children were watching your shenanigans i would have to hate on you some.
