for vegging, the light cycle should be 24/0, or 18/6, & its best to start w/ flouros or cfls (6500-5000k) then when they get bigger switch to a metal halide or high pressure sodium. for flowering u need the lights to be 12/12 & be useing a high pressure sodium or 2700k flouros or cfls. the rule of thumb is 50-100w per plant or a mimimum of 3500-5000 lumens per plant
