If you can't see roots, wait 'til you hit the two week mark, then leave your dome off for 2 or 3 hours. If they wilt, spray 'em and put the dome back on, try again in 2 days. If they just wilt a little or none at all, they should probably have some nutrient uptake system going and be okay. When you see some vertical growth, you can be sure of it. If growth stops and leaves start to yellow, curl down and get ridged, they are probably rootbound. You can also gently remove the soil ball from the container, but I would wait until i suspected it was rootbound before then. If your container has drainage holes, you'll see the roots just pop out of them when they start really growing (probably within 5 days of first really sprouting roots), so you can just wait for that sign, too.
