i don't think we were put here by anything but, rather we evolved into the human species via mutations and natural selection. We aren't the "greatest" species alive. we just are are able to pass knowledge down from generation to generation with our use complex system of symbols which aided in our spreading to virtually the whole planet.

all i have to say to that is every species in the world passes knowledge down from generation to generation- how to hunt, how to dig, how to make a nest, where to migrate to, everything does it man, everything.
