My take on it is that if you must practise a religion, why not?
They (pagans) revere nature, celebrate the cycles of life death and rebirth, the cycles of the moon and sun, change in seasons, and consider sex the most sacred of human acts, as you become the god and goddess fucking. . .
What's not to like, but perhaps all the gods and goddesses worship. I found it kinda tedious.
The animists have a slightly different take on it, merely by believing all things in nature have a spirit. Thus respect for all nature is the thing, living in harmony with nature, rather than trying to change it to fit the artificial/superficial needs of the people, is the thing.
