Everyone uses the term "club" because you have to be a member to take advantage of their services. They are the same thing as an "dispensary". They are not dance clubs or anything like that.
I never ask them to weigh it in front of me, but I feel comfortable eyeballing an 1/8th. I'm sure that if you ask they will weigh it out for you though.
While some counties hand out id cards with a doctor's recommendation, most dispensaries want to see the original recommendation and do not accept just the id card. If you do not have a recommendation from a doctor, you can not use the services of a dispensary.
One thing to keep in mind is that the County of San Diego forced all dispensaries to shutdown. However, there are plenty of doctors and dispensaries in Orange County, just north of San Diego County.
When you move down to San Diego I'm sure that you will be able to find someone on this board to help you find a good place to go.
