First Alaska Outdoor Grow

Hello, this is my first time growing and my first time growing outside. Ive got alot to learn and I'm hoping to get some pointers.

4-24-08- Today i spent the day walking threw the woods i plan to grow in, and took some pictures of the possible place i want to start my grow. I found a spot that is covered by some fallen tree's and it looks like it could get lots of sunlight. Now here is my problem, I want to start growing as soon as possible. What I'm wondering is if I'm going to need to control the light cycles since its daylight so much in Alaskan summers. I'm hoping i can just keep them outside the entire grow, but I'm confused on how the light cycles are going to go. Here are some pictures of my possible plot and i also have some pictures of these ceder plant pots. I don't know if they are deep enough though, they are about 8 inches deep. Let me know what you think about the pots and or the location of where i want to grow.
