ive never seen a comp. grow box so im no too sure what the set up is. im not too expericed either but i do know that your better off doing some reading 1st rather than just come on and ask for help, there lots of info on here and if you read through it and follow links you will find yourself learning more than you imagined and you save the same vets on this site from answering the same questions all the time.
ph should be somewhere between 5.5-7 i think, but dont count on it. good luck.
