Unless you need to keep turning over clones very quickly (in which case you should put her in a bubbler anyway) I see no need to take care of a mom plant. I train my moms properly by a series of tops... and I could qwuite happily pull of every single fan leaf and the plant wouldn't die. So could you, noi matter how aggressively you claim to prune. You might be left with what APPEARS to be a bunch of sticks... but yoyur mom plant would continue to sprout new shoots.
It most certainly would not die.
