I guess it depends on how large your mom's are, and how aggressively you prune when you take your cuttings. My moms are kept small, and when I take cuttings for clones I pretty much remove ALL of the new growth. If I also removed the large fan leaves, I'd end up with a plant that was just a bunch of sticks.
