I hear that question a lot. The best answer I've ever heard is another question: what's north of the north pole? If we take the definition of the universe as everything that exists, it's sort of hard to then ask what exists outside of it. If we change the definition to be the region of space that encloses all the objects we can presently observe, then I suppose there could be things outside... but then it's really more of *a* universe than *the* universe.
