I don't know how "coco" or the thing I've seen looks like, couldn't see inside of the packing, but I thought it was something like Hydro material before. I've read the package and the thing has almost the same stuff inside like the soil I was using. Nitrate, Magnesium and stuff. So my real question is: Is coco a substitute for soil, not something like hydroton?
thanks

if that stuff you were looking at had the mag., nitrate, and other things then it's not the same coco as the stuff i'm talking about. because coco coir is inert and doesn't have anything in it like that.
as for it being a substrate for soil, yes coco was initially made for soil additives mostly for water retention. but it is also kind of like hydroton, rockwool, expanded clay, etc.. because if you think about it, when your using coco you are always suspending the root ball is a nutrient rich solution, just like any other hydroponic medium.
