Because of the air pruning, the root structure is healthier and grows in the soil better, instead of just to the and around the edges of the pot. This means more roots in the same space, which means a larger, healthier plant.
I don't know if his claim is true, but I do intend to test it on my next set of clones which will begin flowering this week

The heavy root structure is what Im goin for and is actually why I am starting them out in small pots and moving up sizes gradually as they get root bound. This is a concept from Postman and it makes sense to me that doing it this way will allow the roots to form a more concentrated mass in the end than starting them off in the larger pots would.
