I made a firecracker a few weeks ago and I didn't think it tasted like shit at all. I wrapped it up in some foil and stuck it in the toaster oven for about 20 minutes on 330 or so, left it in the fridge overnight and ate it the next day at about 1. Tasted pretty good and the peanut butter wasn't completely dried out. Maybe the key is to not overcook it...
