I've done everything fresh once. Reason being that I wanted an all marijuana blunt with all components from the same individual plant. Most other times I use purchased herb and my grown leaf.... OR.... since I discovered the 'all cannabis blunt' after I dismantled my veg-cab to combine lighting, by the time the plants bud were dried and cured, the leaves from that plant were unusable and I was forced to use a leaf from a different plant.

The all fresh didn't work well for me at all. I kept ripping leaves and got frustrated after 10+ attempts at keeping the blunt together so it could dry.

Have you, or anyone else ever make a sensi-stick?? It similar in one aspect to what you do, Flark. It requires a string to be secured. This is what I do with my popcorn buds if I don't need them for ganja food........

I take a stem thats atleast 6' long and let it dry until it gets that hard, woody feel. When its about 2/3 of the way dry, I score the entire stem with an X-acto knife. The point is to make little burrs that will dry to form little nuggets grabers. All the while making sure not to compromise the integrity of the stem.

At harvest time, I take all the popcorn nuggets and set them aside from the rest of the harvest. Once I'm done manicuring and hanging the other nugs, I take about a gram of popcorn nugs and squeeze them together to make a bigger nugget/ball. I make sure to squeeze with only enough force to keep the nugs together so they are remain fluffy.... not dense squashed pancakes. I make as many of these as I feel like, but IMO, you need at least 5g to make a cool, decent sized stick.

When all my bud balls are made I am have two options.... (#2 requires a greater amount of herb than #1)
  1. I can continue combining the bud balls together, this time end on end to form a long cylindrical shape (dildo) and then insert the pre-dried stem through the center of the long nug.... gently moving the stem to make the burrs grab the nugs, but without causing the long bud to come apart.
  2. Or, I make two long nugs in the same fashion as option #1, and lay one down on a clean, flat surface. I then take the stem and lay it on top of the long nug, making sure there is at least 1/2" of stem past the ends of the nug, and gently move it up and down while twisting it to allow the burrs to get a hold of the nugs. I take the second long nug and lay it on top of the stem. Now I have to manipulate the nugs so the stem is entirely surrounded, again moving the stem slightly so the burrs can grab.
Regardless of the method chosen, the conglomerate needs to be secured. I've used many different thigsg to tie the buds down...twine, thin nylon string, thread, very thin wire, and necklace wire....among others. The one that has worked best for me is the necklace wire. It isn't as thick as some other thin wires...like picture wire for example, but it still can bend and keep its shape. In addition, it is still very flexible. So I take whatever it is I'm using and on one end, I wrap it around the exposed bit of stem enough times so it is quite secure. Before continuing on down the bug, I always give the whole thing a squeeze to get it nice and dense..... again being gentle enough for it to keep it's shape and not be squashed. Next, I continue to wrap it around in the same direction, moving my way down the nug. Usually 1/4" - 3/4" of spacing between wraps works well.... it all depends on the buds. Once I reach the end, I wrap it a bunch of times around the bit of stem on the other end and then tie a simple knot. I like to have 3-4"+ of stem coming out one end to make it like a kabob or loli-pop.

I let these sensi sticks dry and cure for just as long as the rest of the harvest. When they're done, the end result is a big, dense, sexy nugget.

There are several benefits to making these. Besides the fun of making something with marijuana, or just the arts and crafts trip, its a good way to conserve nugget. Normally, the popcorn buds would dry and shrink to single hit nugs and either get rolled in a huge, fast burning blunt.... or.... they get pakced in a bowl that torches them super fast. However, a bowl pack from a sensi stick is denser and burns slower. Same with a doobie. Attempting to combine popcorn buds after cured can result in pankcakes that left trichomes all over your fingers, or buds that crumble all over and get blown away by air coming from your nose.

I usually add popcorn nuggets to my stash that is set aside for ganja food making. But when the ganja food stash is suficient, I make me some sticks.

I'm glad you guys are into the 'Cannablunt'. Those of you who find it fun making those, will most likely enjoy making some sensi sticks.

My buddy has 2 plants so were definatly gonna do this, will take pics too. But does anyone know how to go about getting hash oil?
Look up 'the butane method', Cheeb. It'll be on GC, and definitely on Google somewhere. It's one of the cheapest and easiest ways to make hash oil. And it comes out super ultra-sticky.
