I spent the afternoon exploring and taking in the sights of the city. All in all it was a very contemplative and serene day of watching monochromatic gray skies and silver spoked bicycle wheels spinning and Dutch ladies grinning. With all of my ruminating I hadn't had an opportunity to smoke anything or go into a Coffeeshop. I got my bearings and headed back toward my hotel where I'd seen a rather curious little shop just days before.

"And don't fuck around?" What's that supposed to mean, huh, huh, huh? When I first read it I laughed my ass off. Apparently they take minors not coming into their shop pretty seriously.
There was a friendly older gentleman behind the counter that greeted me with a smile, I asked for a menu which I closely scrutinized. I was a little fed up with all of the mediocre weed that I'd been smoking so I ordered hash. I stuck mostly to hash for the remainder of the trip and boy was I happy that I did that.
I ordered some Moroccan and headed to Lost in Amsterdam to do some writing and ahem, yeah smoking.
[Note: The Amsterdam drug scene can be neatly categorized into four main types of shops where you'll find your bud and paraphernalia. As you make your way around the city it'll be pretty easy to tell what's what but it can be a bit disorienting at first, having that much freedom usually is.
1. Coffeeshops - (cannabis, hashish)
2. Smart Shops - (mushrooms and nootropics/"smart drugs" i.e. Piracetam, Hydergine, Vasopressin)
3. Grow Shops - (where the latest grow gear and general grow equipment can be found)
4. Head Shops - (pipes, bongs, papers, grinders and such are found here)
There's a lot of marijuana and hashish around the Dam and an equal number of Coffeeshops. It would take a considerable amount of time to try to go to all of them so I would suggest focusing on the hashish. Here is a comprehensive list of all the Coffeeshops in the Dam: Amsterdam Coffeeshop Directory. It's difficult to actually recommend an exact place because the shops basically buy from anyone that has weed to sell, so what's good in one shop one week may be bad in the next. Like with anything you have to be very discriminating and look around, that's why there are so many of them.]
