As it stand right now, I think I have all the info I need to continue.
I will be purchasing a 400W HPS bulb. After germination I will be using this, and only this for the rest of the grow. Maybe in the future I will choose to play around with different kinds of lighting at different stages, but for now I'm keeping it simple.
I will be purchsing seeds from either seedboutique (most likely), nirvana (maybe), or Dr. Chronic (longshot). I plan on doing a little more research on this subject but it seems like in the end, you just have to take a chance. I will say that nirvana.com is enticing because they accept paypal (the only one so far that I have seen that does), which means you can use a credit card forthe lectronic payment, but not necessarily give them any CC info.
I know what I am doing with the soil mix...
60% Potting Soil
15% Perlite
10% Building Sand
10% worm castings
5% Pre-Mix
Once I have all my equipment ready, I will clean the room, set it up and go. Even though this is technically an indoor grow, I will try to time it with the weather, and in that sense, treat it as an outdoor. So sometime in late March, if all goes well, I'll be setting the sprouts into the room.
The only thing that worries me is if I wil end up using too much amps from that socket. I am not familiar with electricity at all, and asking someone to come and check it out for me isn't an option. I'll do my best to figure out if the socket is capable or not, but it's not going to stop me from trying.
Yeah, I plan keeping a journal very soon that will include the process of acquiring seeds and equipment. I'll post the link in my sig if anybody is interested.

cool, just to make sure u know a 400w hps bulb (any hps bulb) wont screw into a reg socket, they need a ballast. & to figure your amp useage just do watts / volts = amps, a 400w will use about 4amps.
