Truly amazing... if that video isn't proof of evolution, I don't know what is. As others have mentioned, the bonobos seem to have a fairly good understanding of the English language. It seems like they would be able to communicate as well as we do (or at least pretty close) if only they had similar vocal cords. They even have the beginnings of a written language, which makes me wonder... could they potentially be able to write or type in English? And by that I mean more than just simple combinations of words. From what I've gathered, it seems likely that they would be able to form complex sentences if they had a better understanding of grammar and spelling. They already have apes who can communicate with sign language. I wonder how long it will be before we can actually teach one of them to communicate in a much more complex way. Maybe one day we'll be reading books written by bonobos.

The lady in that video makes a very good point... it isn't the biology that they're lacking, it's simply the culture and technology. Its pretty evident that their mental capacity is almost the same as humans... they just haven't had the chance to develop their own language, belief system, and everything else that has given way to human civilization.
