I think of high school as more of an introduction than anything else. How do you know you aren't going to like something until you give it a try? High school is like someone saying "hey, here's some basic information about a variety of subjects, so you can decide what you want to do." You can either completely blow everything off and not try to better yourself with what you have, or you can get a little bit out of it and decide what you want to do with your life. Whether you barely graduate or work your ass off, it doesn't really make that much of a difference. I do agree that we should have more specialized education early on though.
