Talking Here We Grow Again- Mazar, Blueberry, and Purple Kush

Well with our first grow cut and currently drying in the pantry; now all the attention is now on the next round! It was awesome to see all the different stages of life in there lately and even though I love harvesting I wish I still had a mature flowering plant around... They are just so cool!

When trimmed properly the buds don't look as frosty as before because of the crystal-coated leaves. If vaporizing these strains it would be best to just leave the leaves LOL on there because they are just absolutely coated with trichomes. I think I might have to dust the buds with kif in order to get them to look the way I want... Plus when they dry out they lose a lot of taste! Not good! I assume it gets better when it cures for awhile but we'll see. It might be best to keep this stuff fresh to preserve the great flavor and only dry out stuff that I want to kif.

*future edit after complete harvest (7/24/07)- the pot that lost it's flavor and crystal density when the leaves were removed was not the Mazar that won the Cannabis Cup. It's the stuff that formed under the light that is the real deal; it pumped up the interior with buds so when the leaves were removed it still had tons of crystals which allowed the taste to really come out of it, and remain after it dried enough to kif. The whole reason the stuff lost it's flavor and didn't look as frosty is because it wasn't fully developed to it's peak. Mazar requires a lot of light to do it's business to the max!

It was dissapointing to say the least to have your pot lose it's flavor over the drying process... It tastes normal out of the vaporizer though, and got stronger the more it dried. Vaporizing is just awesome for the way it brings out the flavor in weed!

But onto the journal!

Here are the clones about a week or so ago when they were about 4 days into 12/12. The Mazar stretch like crazy the second you flip the lights and the Blueberry just chills.

I couldn't decide on a mother plant for the Mazar so I decided to keep 3 special plants that I liked until I could decide. The taller one on the left is named Pretty Lady and has always been the most beautiful of all the Mazar in terms of foliage. It's huge leaves and ability to take stress better than her sisters was definitely noticed last grow. It stretches too much though for an indoor plant... I thought it was a lack of light intensity on it that caused it to be so tall compared to the others but this grow shows it was just a taller plant. I bet it would do well outdoors with lots of veg time with it's huge leaves to fuel the veg cycle, but there is nothing I can do to grow it indoors as well as the other two.

The other two are more similar in height and growth but the flowers are different. The one in the middle is named Shug because it was the frostiest of the bunch. The one of the right is named Miss Hulk because it was very vigorous from seed and it's flowers were the most beautiful out of the bunch in terms of the way they were shaped. This grow should help me decide between the two I guess.

This is the high-ph damage that using lemon juice with enzymes in the nutrient solution caused (the enzymes ate the juice and totally neutralized the acid in hours) It's all the lower growth though and will be cut off anyways.

Here they are waiting for their space to be cleaned out and set up

Before cutting underbrush

after (will need another final cut later)

90 degree bend for the Mazar to be even with the Blueberry... Best to grow these strains seperate from what I've seen but it's possible together with a lot of training.

Shug, my favorite Mazar clone right now

Here's the new gear we just got- new XL reflector with better spread (I'm getting another one soon to replace the other smaller one we are using), carbon filter that weighs over 40 pounds... Thing was ridiculous to hang LOL new Galaxy 600 and Eye Hortilux super HPS.

So now we are working with air cooled lights! Plus no more smell of growing plants! more wattage, better reflector, better ballast= better growth.

Here's how it looks!

Look at that giant thing! Isn't that ridiculous for an air filter???

Mazar side, trying to put more light on that one plant to get it even with the others... We'll see what happens. Going to be using side lighting this grow and the plants will be much more thinned-out with mostly serious colas and very little secondary buds. No bullshit this time.

Blueberry side- much more even canopy... Love the all-from-the-same-mother plants! They have much more room to grow and more light this time than their mother plus they won't be 5 feet tall having to carry nutrients up all that extra way... The parts that don't get any light will be cut off seeing what they do first hand this last grow. It's pretty sad

Galaxy 600's

So that's about it for the upgrades... Now here's the veg tent- the clones are doing better and Shug has just started her new 24/0 light cycle and veg fertilizer.

You can see the 3 main branches cut off... Amazing it doesn't show any signs of stress after harvest! It's not doing much right now but I'm sure it takes awhile for it to switch back over. Can't wait to see exactly what it does each day.

Take care everyone, hopefully this grow will be much better than the last!
