You were close- just forgot to convert watts into kilowatts (400W = 0.4kW).
12 hours x 0.4kW= 4.8kWh. If your power cost is 8c/kWh, a 400W for 12hrs will cost (4.8* $0.08 =) $0.384 or a little under 40c for 12 hrs.
