I'm using rockwool now. I soaked them to get to proper ph, put away in nice dark, warm area and to tell you the truth I do better with germinating in paper towels. Its faster. I think rockwool is great because you don't disturb the crown of the plant at all and it holds water really good. Ideally I think its best to sprout in paper towels and when you get them fairly long, transfer to rockwool. That way the sprout is not struggling to find the way up.
