However you look at things, the legalization of cannabis would probably do more good than bad. Currently, the cannabis trade requires a black market, just like alcohol during prohibition. This leads to violence and puts a lot of money in the wrong hands. Since studies have definitively shown that alcohol is more harmful to the human body than marijuana, there is no reason it shouldn't be legalized. We could keep prisons free and vacant for people who should be there, not just someone who gets pulled over with some weed in his car. This would also allow for the government to control or regulate the quality of the cannabis to eliminate possible health concerns deriving from cut, spiked or otherwise bad weed. Not to mention information campiagns promoting vaporization use can become more widespread, and eliminate the possibility of cancer.
