I completely agree with you here, which is why I felt
drug education is the most important thing here. Anybody is capable doing something ethical or not - and whether or not they go down the road of hard drugs / crime / etc is completely up to them.
However - it's the exact same argument as to why one wouldn't want to start a 7-year-old kid on
ritalin. Once drugs are the 'solution' (even if a completely false solution) to one of their problems, it can be the solution for other things -- and makes it okay to try harder and harder drugs.
