in hydro you really need to keep your eyes on ph. you can get by w/o a ec/ppm/tds meter but you can't make it w/o ph meter and ph up and down. i'd go with chemical nutes. they're easier to measure if you plan on getting a meter of some sort. dwc can be a bit harder to manage during the summer months. rez temps. seem to always be an issue...
