Don't worry about the lack of runoff water after watering.
In your case, because of the mass ratio between soil and plant this is good.

Also you may want to divide the soil in three difference comparments with small plastic boards or so.
It's usually not good to have the roots of different plants intertwine, they'd have to compete for water/nutes and you'll never be able to seperate them again without serious root damage.
