You dont need to freez things...i dont remember melting things.....
The freezing is just a helpfull extra procedure for whatever method your using, it helps break down the cell structure so that it allows more trichome heads to be free, and freezing also helps harden them so they come off easyer...so that you get more kif/hash/whatver.
