DutchinCanada,

Clones should be started in Jiffy Mix soil less clone starting mix, Perlite, vermiculite Perlite mix, or rock wool. Regular soil is not the best thing to start them in but, I won't say it is impossible, just not great.

They should be in a humidity dome of some kind. This would keep the moisture on the leaves because that's where a clone drinks from; it has not roots. Your friend might have fert burned them a bit. Clones need very little if any nutes while rooting.

What are your temps? Clones root fastest at about 80 degrees.

The node length on all your plants is way too long indicating not enough light, light too far away, or both. What type of lights you using
?
